Kerlink and Europorte launch satellite-based digitalization system for the freight and logistics sectors

Sept. 26, 2024

Called Track Value, the solution is the first industrial application dedicated to those sectors that provides data transmission via the space connectivity of Kinéis, a French satellite operator and global connectivity provider for the IoT.

The system, which is already being used by industrial companies, delivers real-time connectivity on Kinéis’s low-orbit satellite constellation, guaranteeing global coverage. Designed with a low-carbon approach, Track Value is an intelligent solution that sends back only relevant data for efficiency and reliability, while addressing the biggest challenges logistics and freight-transport operators face:

  • Real-time tracking of wagons,
  • Predictive maintenance of wheel locks,
  • Detection of temperature variations, and
  • Monitoring of container security.

“Track Value is the first operational solution that covers the majority of needs within the freight and logistics industry,” said Raphael Doutrebente, chairman of Europorte, France’s leading private rail- freight operator and a subsidiary of the Getlink Group. “It is based on proven technologies and expertise that meet the needs of the market. The added value of the solution is further enhanced by its partnership with Kinéis, which provides real-time global coverage.”

Kerlink and Europorte officially announced Track Value at InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin.

“By using the technological innovations of the latest generation of IoT systems based on terrestrial and satellite connectivity, Track Value enables the digitalization of freight with optimum quality of service and the smallest possible digital and energy footprint,” explained Yannick Delibie, Kerlink’s technical director.
