UK MODERN SLAVERY ACT STATEMENT
Our UK Modern Slavery Act Statement provides information on the actions KERLINK has taken to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from our supply chain as well as within our organization.
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 (“the Act”) came into effect on 29 October 2015 and requires those entities carrying on a business or part of a business in the UK and supplying goods or services to disclose information regarding the steps they have taken to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from their supply chain as well as within their own organization.
UK Modern Slavery Act (“MSA”) Statement for Financial Years 2020/21
KERLINK is committed to good corporate citizenship and the highest ethical standards.
To fulfil these commitments, KERLINK has established and maintains systems and controls to safeguard against slavery and related human trafficking in the supply chain of products it purchases from suppliers. KERLINK does not manufacture products itself.
This Statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that the KERLINK Group has taken and is continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.
Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labor. KERLINK Group has a zero tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery.
We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.
Our Risk Areas
The following activities are considered to be at risk of modern slavery within KERLINK Group and the list will be reviewed and updated from time to time:
- Use of staff by subcontractors or suppliers to KERLINK, where the suppliers’ processes are not compliant,
- Employment of sub consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors by KERLINK, where their work practices may be non-compliant.
Our Policies
We operate a number of internal policies to ensure that we are conducting business in an ethical and transparent manner. These include:
- Equal opportunities policy: we are fully committed to ensuring that equal opportunities policies are implemented and maintained. All terms and conditions of service apply on a fair and consistent basis to every staff member,
- Recruitment policy. We operate a robust recruitment policy, including conducting checks on work eligibility for all employees to safeguard against human trafficking or individuals being forced to work against their will,
- Corporate social responsibility policy: Kerlink has long practiced strong corporate governance guidelines and we are continuing to advocate corporate responsibility in every face of our business on a daily basis.
Our Subcontractors & Suppliers
KERLINK’s principal suppliers are heavily-regulated manufacturers. Some of KERLINK’s suppliers are located in countries that may be more vulnerable to human rights abuses than others. That is why KERLINK makes several efforts to implement a zero-tolerance policy for such abuses.
KERLINK therefore:
- Communicates its expectations to suppliers to ensure adherence to its values and ethical standards,
- Establishes appropriate policies and processes within its businesses to make sure that the products it is selling meet the highest standards,
- Utilizes internal resources to evaluate the factories of its suppliers based in higher risk countries and audit them against recognized industry standards.
We operate a supplier policy and maintain a preferred subcontractor/supplier list. To ensure all those in our supply chain and subcontractors comply with our values we conduct due diligence on all subcontractors and suppliers before allowing them to become a preferred supplier.
All subcontractors/suppliers are required to confirm that no part of their business operations contradicts this policy. We are committed as an organization to tackling modern slavery and human trafficking and want to work with suppliers who share our values.
Training
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our organization and our supply chains, we intend to roll out a training program to our staff. All staff will be encouraged to attend training in this area to better understand the risks.
Our Performance Indicators
We will know the effectiveness of the steps that we are taking to ensure that slavery and/or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain if no reports are received from employees, the public, or law enforcement agencies to indicate that modern slavery practices have been identified.
KERLINK continuously evaluates this monitoring program to ensure all actions are consistent with industry norms, and it believes all efforts to date have been effective in preventing slavery and human trafficking from infecting its supply chain.
