Enhancing interoperability between LoRa Network Server and gateways thanks to Kerlink’s plug-and-play solutions
In the world of LPWAN IoT, LoRaWAN gateways play a pivotal role in collecting and forwarding data from end-devices to LoRaWAN Network Server (LNS). IoT solution providers often rely on LNS solutions from the market (typically, from major players like Actility, The Things Industries, Loriot, AWS…) or even on their own LNS implementation (generally based on Chirpstack solution).
Seamless integration is then key.
Kerlink, as leading LoRaWAN gateway manufacturer, has taken a significant step to make this integration hassle-free and efficient, benefiting the entire IoT ecosystem.
Kerlink’s Ambition
Kerlink’s aim is to simplify the process of integrating Kerlink gateways into the overall LoRaWAN ecosystem, ensuring that its industrial-grade solutions are readily accessible to all. With this goal in mind, Kerlink now offers plug-and-play LoRaWAN gateways compatible with major LNS solutions from the market and provides a way to automate the out-of-the-box gateway connection through its Zero-Touch-Provisioning (ZTP) solution.
A Plug-and-Play Approach
Basic Station forwarder is incredibly popular among the LoRaWAN community. And, good news, this solution is fully supported by Kerlink! It is compatible with most LNS solutions, on all Kerlink gateway models. Basic Station empowers LNS to manage LoRaWAN configurations, including regions, radio channels, and more, depending on their capabilities. It also natively features a secured communication protocol (TLS) and is able to reach the LNS on any backhaul medium thanks to the websocket technology.
Combining Basic Station with Kerlink’s Zero-Touch-Provisioning (ZTP) feature enables fully automated gateway connections to key LNS providers in the market. Please note that ZTP can be configured to work with dedicated agents provided by LNS suppliers, without Basic Station forwarder in that case.
Kerlink offers comprehensive guidelines for each LNS and requires only a minimal set of information and permissions to establish the connection.
The steps to connect gateways are straightforward:
- Identify the LNS
- Follow Kerlink’s guidelines and provide the necessary information to set up the ZTP
- Power up gateways and watch it automatically connect to the chosen LNS in just a few minutes.
There’s no limit in the number of connected gateways, making it suitable for small-scale deployments up to large-scale IoT networks.
